Young transplanted mangrove trees grow in a tract of land that has faced heavy deforestation in Kinango near the Kenya Coast. In a measure to combat this, the Kenya Forestry Service planted young mangroves with a 90% failure rate due to poor soil nutrients. A different species was introduced in the area and it has become successful.
